Keynote Speaker Jackie Gordon: One of the hardest parts of being a blogger is working alone. The single most valuable part of going to conferences is meeting colleagues and sharing your knowledge and experiences with each other. Jackie Gordon’s aim is to connect the attendees at the Kosher Food Blogger conference so you can reap all the benefits of networking long after the conference is over. Jackie is an award-winning singing chef, entrepreneur, event producer, food blogger and speaker who has worn nearly every hat in the restaurant and catering business. Trained as a business coach, she speaks predominately to culinary professionals and food bloggers about how to grow their businesses through workshops and presentations that focus on networking, branding, business development and strategy, working with sponsors, crowdfunding and more. Jackie has presented at Cookbook Conference, Food Tech Conference, Eat Write Retreat, Food and Wine Conference, International Association of Culinary Professionals conference and more. She creates specific workshops for organizations like the New York Women’s Culinary Alliance. Jackie has a mailing list that connects over 170 tri-state food bloggers and creates opportunities for them to spend time and share food together like the annual Pie Party Potluck LIVE! As a singing chef, she brings delight to audiences through her “eatertainment” shows that pair tasting foods with music, humor, food culture and history. Her latest production Chocabaret: An artisan chocolate tasting meets a cabaret show was successfully funded using Kickstarter and produced in New York in October 2013. She owns Divalicious Chocolate Events in New York. Television Producer and Chef Avi Levy has been creating in the kitchen since he can remember. Avi worked his way through college as a kosher butcher as well as a chef in numerous restaurants and catering venues. He has always looked for ways to add some extra zest and spice to his dishes. His signature dishes often combine a Spanish and tropical influence with American and Israeli traditions. He’s at home in the kitchen, at the grill or in front of a fryer. You can enjoy his kosher cooking video series, Avi’s Kosher Kitchen, on YouTube and at AvisKosherkitchen.com. As a film maker (Avi’s first profession) he has received numerous awards including Emmy’s and Tellys. His documentary work has been seen on PBS and NBC. He’s even worked with Julia Child and many other award winning chefs.     • Keynote Speaker: Casey Benedict considers herself a “food blogger resource,” as evidenced by her other food-related projects. TasteStopping publishes rejected food photography and editorial pieces on the business of food blogging. She developed Kitchen Play to connect food bloggers to the world of food PR through a variety of dynamic culinary events. In addition, Casey has a successful ready-to-bake cookie business, two wonderful daughters, and one very patient husband who usually doubles as household chef. She holds a BA in Creative Writing from The University of Michigan and an MFA in Screenwriting from Emerson College. Eat, Write, Retreat was developed by Robyn Webb and Casey Benedict as a way to strengthen connections in the food blogging community through a shared exploration of cooking, writing and photography. Robyn and Casey have worked tirelessly to create an intensive, hands-on learning weekend, full of opportunity, friendship and fun at a great value.
  • Food Styling Tips & Tricks: How to Take Professional Pictures to the Next Level
    • Dana Bonagura is a food stylist in New York City who discovered her love for food while sitting in a grocery cart, devouring a savory green bell pepper, at the age of 2. Food and art remained her passions through the years and in college she found herself jumping from behind her canvas to behind the stove with great frequency. A few years after graduating from The George Washington University, it was the organic move to enroll and later complete her culinary degree from the Institute of Culinary Education (formerly Peter Kump). Through the years, photo shoots for GiltTaste, Cafeteria Restaurant, Food & Wine, Food Network Magazine and Bon Appetit, as well as for chefs including Emeril Lagasse, Marc Forgione, Cat Cora and Gwyneth Paltrow have leveraged her skills and employed her creativity.   • Pitch to Publish: Bloggers as Cookbook Authors. What Do Publishers Want?
    • Dan Rosenberg is editorial director at the Harvard Common Press in Boston, where he acquires and edits books primarily in cooking.  He has edited in a number of culinary areas, including barbecue and grilling, vegan and vegetarian, appliance-based cooking, American regional, and international. He previously worked in editing and new-business development at Meredith Corporation.
    • Stacey Glick, Vice President, joined Dystel & Goderich Literary Management in 1999 and has worked with authors in categories across the board of fiction and nonfiction. When she became an agent, her love for/obsession with food translated into a wide-ranging and eclectic cookbook client list. She has worked with many prominent chefs, food writers, and bloggers over the years, and has sold books in almost every category of food to almost all the major and minor cookbook publishers. She is proud to say she came up with the idea for the first collection of mac&cheese recipes back in 2000. She loves being part of such a wonderful and delicious community.
  • How to Make Money From Your Blog
    • Mara Strom launched her blog Kosher on a Budget three years ago, after a friend asked her – for the hundredth time – to explain how she got all that free toothpaste from CVS. Even though there were already thousands of frugal blogs at the time, Mara carved out a niche within a niche – and quickly grew her blog to become the destination for fellow Jewish frugalistas. Once a freelance writer, Mara is grateful today to be able to earn a full-time income from her blog. While there is no magic formula for blog monetization, Mara fully believes that anyone can earn money from their site – and is excited to teach you how. When she’s not blogging, Mara and her husband are busy parenting their three children (two of whom they homeschool, because she mistakenly thought there were 34 hours in a day, not 24).
