Here are our speakers at the 2014 Kosher Food Bloggers Conference:

Keynote Speaker: Jackie Gordon is passionate about blending food, music, humor and fun facts together to create events, tastings and workshops that entertain and inspire people about eating and cooking. She calls it “EAT-ertainment.” Food is a common denominator, a leveler of differences, it creates an even playing field. Food helps create curiosity about one another and encourages the exploration our cultural differences. Food gives us opportunities to gather, to interact and to celebrate life. Jackie always cooked and she always sang. She created the singing-chef niche in 1999, while living in Australia, where she produced her first eatertainment dinner show, The Fried Chicken Theory According to Jackie Gordon. Jackie’s food community is extremely important to her. She’s been a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals (Gratuitous Name-Dropping: Julia Child herself told her to join!) since 2003. Jackie joined the New York Women’s Culinary Alliance and Toastmasters International in 2010. jackiegordon.com

Trina Kaye is a public relations consultant specializing in culinary and non-fiction publicity. Since 1992, she has regularly connected the press to her clients creating local, regional, and national news coverage. She also works with brand strategists to connect targeted media with multimedia branding and marketing opportunities. Clients range from culinary professionals, non-fiction authors to advertising agencies and marketing companies to entrepreneurs and branded personalities. They all seek Trina’s advice and expertise to reach their targeted public relations goals. trinakaye.com

Armando Rafael is a Jersey born photographer. He graduated in 2000 from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Photography. He also graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in 2004 with a certificate in Pastry & Baking Arts. He is a lover of food and life; he photographs, he builds, he bake. Armando’s client list includes Food Network, Allure Magazine Korea, Pratt Institute, The Wall Street Journal and Sweet Paul Magazine. armandorafael.com

Stephanie Abrams is a CEO of SocialFly, a full-service digital marketing and public relations agency specializing in social PR. A graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, Stephanie began her career in sales at Marriott International and Hilton Worldwide. Realizing the connection between social media and business growth, Stephanie decided to leave her career in sales in 2009 to utilize her digital media expertise in the business world. Combining her sales and marketing experience with her underlying passion for helping others succeed, Stephanie developed her first companies, Astar Interactive and Gabbaroo. PROGRAM

  • What Brands Won’t Tell You: Blogger Strengths and “Insider” tips
    • Keynote Speaker: Casey Benedict considers herself a “food blogger resource,” as evidenced by her other food-related projects. TasteStopping publishes rejected food photography and editorial pieces on the business of food blogging. She developed Kitchen Play to connect food bloggers to the world of food PR through a variety of dynamic culinary events. In addition, Casey has a successful ready-to-bake cookie business, two wonderful daughters, and one very patient husband who usually doubles as household chef. She holds a BA in Creative Writing from The University of Michigan and an MFA in Screenwriting from Emerson College. Eat, Write, Retreat was developed by Robyn Webb and Casey Benedict as a way to strengthen connections in the food blogging community through a shared exploration of cooking, writing and photography. Robyn and Casey have worked tirelessly to create an intensive, hands-on learning weekend, full of opportunity, friendship and fun at a great value.
  • Food Styling Tips & Tricks: How to Take Professional Pictures to the Next Level
    • Dana Bonagura is a food stylist in New York City who discovered her love for food while sitting in a grocery cart, devouring a savory green bell pepper, at the age of 2. Food and art remained her passions through the years and in college she found herself jumping from behind her canvas to behind the stove with great frequency. A few years after graduating from The George Washington University, it was the organic move to enroll and later complete her culinary degree from the Institute of Culinary Education (formerly Peter Kump). Through the years, photo shoots for GiltTaste, Cafeteria Restaurant, Food & Wine, Food Network Magazine and Bon Appetit, as well as for chefs including Emeril Lagasse, Marc Forgione, Cat Cora and Gwyneth Paltrow have leveraged her skills and employed her creativity. Dana also contributes her Food Styling skills to help lead a Food Photography Workshop through the International Center of Photography. Check out danaatthetable.com.
  • Networking and Branding: Effective Networking in an Online World
    • Often pegged the “idea man” and a “creative machine”, Aron Schoenfeld has made a name for himself in New York City and across the country as a serial entrepreneur. His passion for turning new ideas into reality has made him a force in the world of business. Drawing on a cross-section of technology, media, communications, business strategy, and finance, Aron has played a quintessential role in the development of numerous companies since 2010. Aron focuses his energy on companies in the idea and seed stages and develops unique approaches for quantifiable development. Aron founded his first company, DreamArtists Studios, in 2004, which has since grown to be one of the top music production companies in the television industry. Since then, Aron has co-founded or advised many more in the entertainment, mobile and analytics space. Aron serves on the Board of Advisors for Ladies America, a nationwide network of professional women based out of Washington, D.C., and is a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Council. Aron’s latest business, Do It In Person, is an all-in-one platform for managing, promoting and discovering events and communities. Aron has a BA in Accounting from Queens College and an MBA from Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. He resides in Queens with his wife Penina, daughter Michele and sons Joseph and Elli.
  • Pitch to Publish: Bloggers as Cookbook Authors. What Do Publishers Want?
    • Dan Rosenberg is editorial director at the Harvard Common Press in Boston, where he acquires and edits books primarily in cooking.  He has edited in a number of culinary areas, including barbecue and grilling, vegan and vegetarian, appliance-based cooking, American regional, and international. He previously worked in editing and new-business development at Meredith Corporation.
    • Stacey Glick, Vice President, joined Dystel & Goderich Literary Management in 1999 and has worked with authors in categories across the board of fiction and nonfiction. When she became an agent, her love for/obsession with food translated into a wide-ranging and eclectic cookbook client list. She has worked with many prominent chefs, food writers, and bloggers over the years, and has sold books in almost every category of food to almost all the major and minor cookbook publishers. She is proud to say she came up with the idea for the first collection of mac&cheese recipes back in 2000. She loves being part of such a wonderful and delicious community.
  • How to Make Money From Your Blog
    • Mara Strom launched her blog Kosher on a Budget three years ago, after a friend asked her – for the hundredth time – to explain how she got all that free toothpaste from CVS. Even though there were already thousands of frugal blogs at the time, Mara carved out a niche within a niche – and quickly grew her blog to become the destination for fellow Jewish frugalistas. Once a freelance writer, Mara is grateful today to be able to earn a full-time income from her blog. While there is no magic formula for blog monetization, Mara fully believes that anyone can earn money from their site – and is excited to teach you how. When she’s not blogging, Mara and her husband are busy parenting their three children (two of whom they homeschool, because she mistakenly thought there were 34 hours in a day, not 24).
